Dr Rachel Benchekroun
About me
I'm a sociologist and ethnographer, with a background in community development.
My research focuses on social and health inequalities, migration and mobilities, motherhood, family and friendship practices and support networks.
From 2022 to 2023 I held an ESRC Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at UCL. I've been working with families, young people, community groups, campaign organisations and decision makers to help improve policy and practice.
In 2021/22 I convened undergraduate Sociology modules at UCL and University of Roehampton. Since 2019 I've been a seminar lead at UCL for postgraduate modules in Ethnography and Qualitative Methods, and undergraduate modules in Families in Society and Social Theory. I also worked on a range of qualitative research projects across three universities.
